In-Office Teeth Whitening

Professional in-office teeth whitening is a popular treatment that whitens teeth under comfortable, safe, and painfree conditions. In contrast to at-home whitening treatments which involve a low concentration of bleaching agent, professional whitening uses highly concentrated whitening gels to provide immediate and impressive results.

In-office teeth whitening can eradicate stains and discolouration caused by:

  • Darkly pigmented food and drink (including, coffee, tea, red wine and beetroot)
  • Aging – teeth naturally darken with a yellow, grey or brown hue over time
  • Smoking cigarettes or chewing tobacco

Benefits of in-office teeth whitening

  • Immediate results – faster than home treatments can provide
  • Safest method of teeth bleaching
  • The use of desensitisers and thicker peroxide gels that don’t soak into the teeth as much make it easier to control gum and tooth sensitivity

Before and After Gallery

A typical procedure at London Teeth Whitening Clinic

Although some teeth bleaching treatments may differ, this is generally how a typical procedure goes:

Firstly, your teeth will be cleaned and checked for signs of decay and disease. Any dental health issues will have to be corrected before the whitening treatment can go ahead.

A cheek retractor is placed in your mouth to expose your teeth, along with a rubber dam to protect your gums against the whitening gel. The whitening hydrogen peroxide gel is then applied to your teeth. The gel will be left on your teeth for about 15 to 30 minutes before being washed off. Another layer of gel is then applied for another 15 to 30 minute session. Your dentist will check your teeth in between each bleaching session to see how well they’ve whitened, and whether any more bleach is required. A laser may also be shone over the gel to enhance the whitening process.

Once the treatment’s finished, the whiteness of your teeth will be measured. Please note that your teeth will appear whiter at first due to dehydration, and the true new colour will come through a few days later. If you want your teeth whiter still, your dentist may book you in for a follow-up whitening treatment, and/or give you mouth trays and a bleaching gel to carry on with at home.
