Whitening Your Teeth Naturally

After years of eating acidic and discolouring foods, most of us will experience stained or yellow teeth at some point. Professional teeth whitening procedures can be expensive, however. But there are several home teeth whitening methods you might like to try to whiten your teeth that use inexpensive materials.  You should also consult with a London teeth whitening clinic dentist.

Baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. You can find both at local pharmacies and supermarkets.

  • Ensure that the peroxide is in a 3% solution. It is not safe for use anything stronger in your mouth. Make sure that you read the label confirming that the concentration of peroxide is safe to use in the mouth. If you're not sure, ask your pharmacist.
  • These two ingredients are safe for use in the mouth but are also potentially abrasive with the capability of breaking down your tooth enamel in time. To avoid this, make sure that you use the method no more than twice a week and make sure you brush very gently.
  • Baking soda is an aggressive whitener, and you will probably see results after just a few uses.
  • 1 teaspoon of each ingredient in a cup.
  • Mix to a paste.
  • Dip a toothbrush into the mixture.
  • Ensure that you use a separate toothbrush – not the one you normally use for brushing your teeth.
  • Use the paste to brush your teeth.
  • Use circular and gentle motion.
  • Rinse your mouth with water and spit out.
  • Do not swallow this mixture.
  • Brush your teeth with fluoride toothpaste.

Do this only two times a week. This mixture is too harsh for everyday use, as it might damage teeth and gums.

Try activated charcoal

Activated charcoal differs from common barbecue charcoal because it is specifically meant to be used as a medicine. It absorbs chemicals, and is often used for intestinal gas or acid. Because it absorbs toxins and chemicals, it will also lift stains off your teeth.

  • Get activated charcoal in powder form rather than in tablets. This  willgive you more charcoal for your money, and will be easier to rub on your teeth.
  • As charcoal actively removes stains, you will see results after only a few uses.
  • Using a clean, wet toothbrush dip it into the powered charcoal.
  • Make sure to coat the toothbrush well to cover all of your teeth and use a separate toothbrush to brush normally in a circular motion using gentle motions.  Keep this up for about 2 minutes.
  • Spit out the charcoal.
  • Rinse your mouth thoroughly with water to completely wash away the charcoal. Brush normally.

Make a Strawberries paste

Gather some large strawberries. The vitamin C in strawberries can help break down plaque, and the malic acid in them can remove surface stains.

  • Take 1-3 large red strawberries.
  • This is a slower method and will take a few weeks to show results.
  • Mash the strawberries to a paste adding 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda although you can just use the strawberry paste if you want.
  • Dip a new toothbrush into this mixture.
  • Apply the mixture rather than brush it onto the teeth.
  • Leave it on your teeth for 5 minutes.
  • Rinse the mixture off your teeth.
  • Brush your teeth normally and floss.
  • Repeat this treatment nightly

Try Oranges to remove surface stains

Take a large orange. The white part of the orange skin between the surface and the orange fruit contains d-limonene that helps remove stains from your teeth.

  • It will take about 2-3 weeks of daily brushing for noticeable results.
  • Rub the white part of the peel over your teeth and let it sit on your teeth for about 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Brush your teeth normally and floss
  • Repeat this daily.
  • You will have to repeat this method regularly for a few weeks to see noticeable result

Use Banana peel to remove tooth stains

Take a ripe banana that as high amounts of magnesium, manganese and potassium, that will help remove tooth stains. Make sure the banana is yellow to ensure that it is ripe.

  • This method will also take 2 to 3 weeks for noticeable results.
  • Peel the banana. You will only need a few small sections normally.
  • Rub your teeth with the inside of the peel for about two minutes rubbing the peels all over your teeth.
  • Let the juices sit on your teeth for 15 minutes.[
  • Brush your teeth normally with fluoride toothpaste.
  • Repeat this 2 or 3 times a week.
